About Compressing PDF Files
Compressing a PDF reduces its file size while keeping the content the same. This makes it easier to email, upload, or share. You can compress a PDF without installing any software.
Upload your file, pick a compression level, and click Compress. Your smaller PDF is ready in seconds. The tool runs entirely online.
Three levels to choose from
- Maximum compression — 72 dpi, the smallest possible file. Best for documents where small size matters more than sharpness.
- Recommended — 150 dpi, a good balance. Smaller than the original but still crisp enough for most uses.
- Less compression — 300 dpi, near-original quality. The file will still be smaller, but the difference is harder to notice.
When to compress a PDF
- You need to email a PDF that exceeds the attachment limit
- You want faster uploads to a form or portal
- You are archiving documents and want to save disk space
- You are sharing a scan that came out larger than expected
