About analysing Google Play reviews

A competitor's one-star reviews are the most honest product research available. Users tell you exactly which features break, which pricing feels dishonest, and which missing capability made them leave — and they do it for free, in public, at scale.

Reading them by hand doesn't work. A popular app has thousands of reviews, and the same complaint appears in a hundred different wordings. This tool collects the reviews, groups them into themes, and ranks those themes by how much damage each one is doing, so the pattern is visible in a couple of minutes instead of an afternoon.

Paste a Google Play URL to start — the app's package name on its own works too. This tool covers Android only, so nothing in the report is diluted by iOS reviews; if you also want the iOS picture, run the App Store analyzer separately and compare the two.

What the report gives you

  • Star distribution — how the collected reviews split across one to five stars.
  • Sentiment split — the share of negative, neutral and positive reviews, using whichever star ratings you choose.
  • Complaint themes ranked by impact — mentions weighted by upvotes, so a widely-backed complaint outranks a one-off.
  • The quotes behind each theme — the actual reviews, with rating, upvotes and source store.
  • Exports — reviews CSV, themes CSV, or a printable PDF report.

Honest limits

  • Google Play only exposes reviews that have written text — the majority of ratings are stars with no comment and cannot be read by anyone.
  • Reviews are collected from several English-language country stores and de-duplicated, because Play serves largely the same global set to each one.
  • Each free scan is capped at 3,000 reviews so it finishes in about two minutes. It is a representative sample of recent reviews, not a complete census — if you need the full set, we run deeper analyses of up to 100,000 reviews as a paid service. Email order@onlinemaker.site.
  • This tool scans Google Play only. To analyse the other platform, use the App Store Review Analyzer.
  • This is for competitive and market research on public data. Extract insights — don't republish other people's reviews as your own content.
